My friends have talked me into doing a 5k with twelve obstacles based on the painful, and painfully funny, show Wipeout. My initial reaction was, "No, I don't want to break myself. I know I will break myself."
But, I gave in to the peer pressure, and now I am registered. I poured over the website and was assured by the words "not as intense as the show" and "we try to ensure safety."
I was not assured, however, by the fact that I had to purchase extra insurance to participate, and had to sign multiple waivers. This is not like a regular running race I am used to. For those, my comprehensive health insurance is plenty, thank you very much.
My children are concerned. "Please don't break yourself, Mommy." We all agree. This may not be my best idea. To be continued...June 6. Hopefully, I will still be in one piece.
